Examples

1PS> Get-AzStorageAccount
Show reference output
1 StorageAccountName ResourceGroupName Location SkuName
2 ------------------ ----------------- -------- -------
3 stprod01 RG-PROD eastus Standard_LRS
1PS> Get-AzStorageBlob -Container logs -Context $ctx
Show reference output
1 Name BlobType Length LastModified
2 ---- -------- ------ ------------
3 app-20260910.log BlockBlob 18432 9/10/2026 10:15:04 PM
4 audit.csv BlockBlob 9216 9/10/2026 9:58:17 PM

What it is for

Use it for account inventory and for replication or access tier reporting. Data plane work such as listing or uploading blobs also lives here, once a context object exists to authorize it.

Typical tasks

  • List storage accounts with SKU and replication
  • Find accounts that allow public blob access
  • Enumerate containers and their blobs
  • Upload or download blob content
  • Check the minimum TLS version per account
  • Report quotas on file shares

Check the installed version

1PS> Get-Module -ListAvailable Az.Storage | Select-Object Name, Version, Path
2PS> Get-Command -Module Az.Storage

Compare the module path and version with the session used by your scheduled task or automation account. Use it for account inventory and for replication or access tier reporting. Data plane work such as listing or uploading blobs also lives here, once a context object exists to authorize it.
