Why use PSCustomObject in reports?
Documentation: Microsoft Learn
PSCustomObject shapes clean report rows — check you know why it is the reporting workhorse.
Overview
QUIZ
Core PowerShell · Question 9 of 12
Explanation
It gives predictable named properties that downstream code and exports can consume.
Apply the reasoning
A PSCustomObject defines a stable record shape using named properties. A downstream filter, sort or export can address those properties directly instead of parsing a hand-built text line. Keep the same field names across all report rows.
Why the other choices fail
Creating the object does not write a CSV file; Export-Csv performs that operation. Values can retain numeric, date or other types until a serialization step converts them. Each object can contain different values. Check null values and property consistency before exporting, because a readable console table alone does not prove the report schema is correct.
